Workout Update

What the hell is going on? One day I weight 189.2 and two days later I weigh 197 then two more days later I weigh 193. It is getting very frustrated I am keeping a log of what I eat and what exercise I am doing. Everything adds up for 2 pounds a week weight loss, but the pound just won’t come off any more. I think I am going to have to look up a nutritionist or something. Maybe I am broken and meant to be a fat guy. I know that I do eat a lot of carbs to get my protein because I don’t eat meat or dairy. I am going to start to drink protein shakes after my morning runs again, that might help with lowering the carbs for breakfast. Maybe try to eat fresher also get away from the processed foods.

This week’s running went ever good. Monday I walked on the dreadmill for 30min, Tuesday was rest, Wednesday 2 miles @ 19:32, Thursday 3 miles @ 34:14, Friday 2.5 miles @ 24:54, Saturday 5 miles @ 53:12 and Sunday 6.5 miles @ 1:15:14. Saturday was suppose to be a rest day but I had it of work and I did over eat a little bit on Xmas so I figured I would throw in two long runs. Next week is a very easy week with 3 milers across the board. It’s also the last treadmill walking Monday with a 60 minute walk @ 10%. When I signed up for the Cleveland marathon they gave me a free 6 week one night a week workout at Fitworks. So that will be my cross training for the first six weeks. If that goes well I might sign up there. They have to close locations to my work and home so that might work out.

Workout Update

Top ten reasons I run.

10. I run to improve my health.
9. I run because i enjoy it I think it's fun.
8. When I run in the morning it makes the rest of the day feel good.
7. I like to run because it clears my head. I like being alone to think about life things and running gives me that time.
6. it’s cheap to do and there are not many things that you need to run. A good pair of running shoes was the biggest cost.
5. When I run I notice things around me that I would never normally see driving around in a car
4. I like that I can eat twice the amount of food on days that I run and I am still losing weight.
3. I like running because of other runners. There is a certain family/friend type of camaraderie between runners. There’s always a friendly wave between runners when out running, even thou your perfect strangers.
2. I run to give my children a positive role model. Hopefully they'll see a positive change and want to join in.
1. I run so I can watch my children grow up.

This week’s running went really well. Monday I walked on the dread-mill for 55 minutes, Tuesday rest, Wednesday 2 miles @ 21:33, Thursday 3 miles @ 32:19, Friday 3 miles @ 31:02, Saturday rest and Sunday ran 5 miles @ 55:03.

I picked up a new book this week also, The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone. So far it’s a good read. There is a ton of good recipes in there too. I have tried a few things and there not too bad. There is some weird veggies that I want to pickup and try to make some new dishes. I tried Mac and cheese from her web site and it was actually really good for not having any cheese in it.

Workout Update

I recovered from the 10 miler quite well. Stairs were the hardest part for a couple of days. This week was pretty easy, Monday walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes, Tuesday rest, Wednesday 2 miles @20:54, Thursday 3 miles @ 35:00, Friday 2 miles @ 19:33, Saturday rest and Today Sunday a 5 mile run @1:00:00. The upcoming week is also a easy week with nothing over 3 miles. Week 10 is where it starts to ramp up a bit and week 11 is where I was at before I started the training program. I am glad that I stepped back and basically reset my training. I feel like a stronger runner than before with more of a goal.
Still looking around for a gym to join for cross training on Mondays, Hoping to find one with spinning and yoga.

Workout Update

Very long week, felt like it would never end. This week I totally broke the 10% rule on Sunday. There was something in me that just wanted to keep on going. Plus I wanted to prove to myself that I could run 10 miles straight with no walking breaks. My legs to feel the pain, mainly in the calf area but I think that it was worth it. On Monday I walked on the dreadmill for 50 minutes @ 10% incline, Tuesday rest, Wednesday 2 miles @ 22:04, Thursday 3 miles @ 42:00, Friday 2 miles @ 19.27, Saturday rest and Sunday I RAN “10.25 miles @2:04:51” Sunday was also the first time I ever ran in the snow, It was about 28*F outside. I kind of liked it, very quiet. The only thing is the passing cars are a little more scary when there driving on ice.
I signed up for the Mill Creek Distance Class Half Marathon in Youngstown Ohio this week. It’s on March 7th, 2010 a Sunday at 8:45am. It’s a certified half marathon course which is chipped timed. I’ve read that it’s a pretty hilly course that runs out and back. I think that there were about 350 runners last year. This is placed at the end of week 20 of my 30 week training. Should be a good time… I hope.
